Job Details

The Leisure Attendant at Splashworld is a vital member of the team, responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons. This multifaceted role includes providing excellent customer service, maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the facility and equipment, enforcing rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment, responding promptly to emergencies when necessary, and having excellent communication skills to interact with members and visitors. The position encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, including lifeguarding, swim teaching, gym instruction, studio class instruction, and reception duties based on individual qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

Ensure the safety of all patrons in the pool area, including monitoring pool areas, responding to emergencies, and enforcing rules and regulations as necessary.

Monitor and maintain water quality parameters, such as chlorine levels and pH, to ensure the pool is safe and clean for swimming.

Plan and deliver high-quality swimming lessons to patrons of all ages and abilities, in accordance with current industry standard guidelines.

Plan and deliver high-quality gym instruction to gym users in accordance with current industry standard guidelines.

Plan and deliver high-quality studio-based classes to customers in accordance with current industry standard guidelines.

Welcome members and visitors, register new members, schedule appointments, address inquiries, handle cash, and support sales and marketing.

Provide excellent customer service to customers, including answering queries and providing assistance as necessary.

Maintain a clean and hygienic environment in the pool and gym area, including cleaning changing rooms and equipment.

Respond to emergencies in the pool and gym areas, providing first aid and CPR as necessary.

Monitor customer behavior and enforce rules and regulations to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all customers.

Participate in Splashworld-sponsored training and development courses as necessary to enhance your knowledge and skills, fostering career growth.

Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment as necessary, and report any defects or issues to management.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety, data protection, and equal opportunities policies.

Perform other duties applicable to Splashworld’s daily operational activities as assigned by the General Manager, Assistant Manager, Duty Manager, or Supervisor.

We are looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications and possess the necessary skills and experience to excel in this role:

Pool Lifeguard qualification is essential.
A swim teacher qualification is desirable.
First Aid certification is an advantage.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
The ability to work well as part of a team is essential.
The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and illness cover is required.
Must have a ‘can do’ attitude with a willingness to undertake any task required.
Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and trust.

The Leisure Attendant will operate within a dynamic leisure facility setting, which may involve exposure to pool chemicals, elevated noise levels, and fluctuating temperatures. The position may require extended periods of standing and the lifting of heavy objects. This role may also entail physical activity due to participation in classes or activities within the facility, making it imperative for the incumbent to maintain physical fitness and stamina while working in this diverse and active environment. Additionally, flexibility in working hours is essential, including evenings, weekends, and illness cover.
