About Splashworld
Splashworld is Tramore’s community-owned aquatic, fitness and leisure centre — a not-for-profit facility operated by Tramore Water Centre Group CLG. For over 30 years, we’ve been a cornerstone of the community, providing swimming, fitness, water safety education and family-friendly recreation for locals and visitors alike. Everything we earn is reinvested back into the facility and the community we serve.

🎯 Our Mission
To provide accessible, inclusive and high-quality aquatic and fitness services that promote health, wellbeing and water safety for the people of Tramore and the wider community.
🔭 Our Vision
To be the premier community aquatic and leisure facility in the South East — a place where everyone, regardless of age, ability or background, can enjoy the benefits of water-based recreation, fitness and lifelong learning.
Our Values
Our values guide every decision we make — from how we maintain our facilities to how we welcome every person through the door.
Safety
Water safety is at the heart of everything we do. We maintain the highest standards of pool safety, staff training and facility management.
Community
We exist because of our community — and for our community. Every decision considers the needs of locals, families, schools and community groups.
Inclusion
Everyone is welcome at Splashworld. We actively work to make our facilities and programmes accessible to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

We promote physical and mental health through aquatic recreation, fitness and active lifestyles — for our visitors, members and staff alike.
Sustainability
As custodians of a community asset, we are committed to environmental responsibility and the long-term financial sustainability of our facility.
What We Offer
Splashworld is more than a swimming pool. We’re a full aquatic and leisure facility, home to a waterpark, gym, swim school and a wide range of community programmes.

Waterpark & Pools
Our waterpark is one of the South East’s most popular family attractions, featuring a wave pool, thrilling water slides, splash zones and a bubble pool. It’s perfect for families, day-trippers and visitors to Tramore. Public swim sessions are bookable online with timed entry for a comfortable experience.
Gym & Fitness
Our fully equipped gym features a wide range of cardio and strength equipment, free weights and a dedicated fitness studio. We offer a range of fitness classes, personal training options and flexible membership packages — including student and off-peak rates.
Swim Academy
Our swim school is one of the largest in the region, delivering structured afterschool swimming lessons to over 1,500 children each week, alongside programmes for adults of all abilities. During the school day, we deliver the PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety) programme, helping children develop essential swimming skills and lifelong water safety awareness. We also run school holiday swim camps and specialist programmes including disability swimming, water safety courses, and inclusive community sessions with organisations such as the Waterford Area Autism Group, Down Syndrome Ireland, Special Olympics, and Halliwick.

Our History
Splashworld has been at the heart of Tramore since the early 1990s, when a group of local community members came together with a shared vision: to build an aquatic and leisure facility that would serve the town and surrounding areas for generations to come.
Early 1990s
A community group in Tramore identifies the need for a local swimming pool and leisure facility. Fundraising and planning begins, with strong support from the local community and Waterford County Council.
1993
Splashworld opens its doors as the Tramore Water Centre — a brand new aquatic and leisure facility featuring swimming pools, water slides and a wave machine. The facility is established as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG), ensuring it would always remain community-owned and not-for-profit.
1990s–2000s
Splashworld grows into a key part of Tramore’s identity — attracting families, tourists, schools and community groups. The swim school expands and the gym is developed to meet growing demand for fitness services.
2010s
Continued investment in the facility and programmes. Splashworld builds strong partnerships with local schools, sports organisations and community groups, becoming a hub for water safety education and accessible recreation.
2020
COVID-19 forces Splashworld to close temporarily, but the team adapts quickly — introducing online booking, timed sessions and capacity management systems that improve the visitor experience and continue to this day.
2024–2025
A major refurbishment of the changing village is completed, bringing a modern, accessible and welcoming experience to every visitor. Digital transformation continues with a new website, mobile app, online gift vouchers and automated swimming lesson management.
2026 & Beyond
Splashworld is approved for a €3.2 million SEAI Pathfinder energy upgrade — a transformative project that will modernise the building’s energy systems, reduce our environmental footprint and secure the facility’s future for the next generation. A new Strategic Plan for 2026–2030 sets an ambitious roadmap for continued growth, inclusion and community impact.

Community at Our Core
As a not-for-profit, community-owned organisation, Splashworld exists to serve the people of Tramore and the wider Waterford area. We reinvest every euro back into the facility, our programmes and our community.
“Splashworld is more than a leisure centre — it’s a community asset. We provide essential water safety education, accessible fitness facilities, and a welcoming space where everyone in the community can be active, healthy and connected.”
We’re proud to work closely with a wide range of community partners, including local schools, sports clubs, disability organisations and the Local Sports Partnership. Our programmes — from school swimming to inclusive disability sessions to the TRY a Triathlon initiative — reflect our commitment to making physical activity accessible to everyone.

How We’re Run
Splashworld is operated by Tramore Water Centre Group CLG — a Company Limited by Guarantee, registered in Ireland. As a not-for-profit organisation, every euro we earn is reinvested into the facility and the community we serve.
The centre is managed day-to-day by an experienced operational team led by a General Manager and Assistant General Manager, supported by duty managers, an accounts team and a dedicated front-line staff of over 35 — including lifeguards, swim instructors, gym instructors and reception staff. The management team is supported by a voluntary Board of Directors drawn from the local community, who meet quarterly to provide strategic governance and oversight.
Management & Operations
Our General Manager and Assistant General Manager lead the day-to-day running of the facility — overseeing operations, safety, staffing, finance, programme delivery and facility development. They are supported by duty managers who ensure consistent standards across all shifts, and an accounts team managing the organisation’s finances.
Board of Directors
Our voluntary Board of Directors provides strategic governance, financial oversight and long-term direction. As a CLG, the Board ensures Splashworld remains community-owned, financially sustainable and focused on delivering for the people of Tramore and the wider area.
Looking Forward
Splashworld’s Strategic Plan for 2026–2030 sets an ambitious and community-focused vision for the next five years. Our seven strategic goals reflect the priorities of our members, staff, partner organisations and the wider community:
